What changed in 2026-2027

A new cohort locks in at $15,588

Students entering UCLA in fall 2026 pay $15,588 in UC systemwide tuition plus $842 in UCLA campus-based fees, and under the Tuition Stability Plan that tuition rate is locked for them for up to six years. Nonresident Supplemental Tuition reached $39,270, bringing a new nonresident undergraduate’s systemwide charges to $54,858.

The cohort structure is now fully visible on UCLA’s own cost pages, which publish five parallel budgets side by side. A student who started in 2022-23 still pays systemwide tuition of — and continues to be billed at — the rate set when they enrolled, while each newer class sits one rung higher. Five undergraduates in the same seminar can be paying five different tuitions.

UCLA cautions that these figures are not final: actual tuition and fees remain subject to change by the Regents, and approved 2026-27 levels may end up higher or lower than the amounts published for planning purposes.

What does that mean? UCLA tuition works out to roughly $58/day of instruction, or $1,039/class (assuming 15 classes per year).

At California's $16.90/hr minimum wage today, covering tuition alone would take 922 hours of work (~23 full-time weeks) — before housing and food.
